The Secretary of State has asked Sir Jim Rose to lead an independent review of the primary curriculum. The QCA is gathering evidence to support this work and will be asking a series of questions over the coming months through TeacherNet's discussion forums to gather your views. TeacherNet logo14-19 Diplomas

The DCSF has launched the third 14-19 Diploma Gateway. The third Diploma Gateway will determine which areas can start delivering some or all of the first fourteen Diploma lines from September 2010. Anyone wishing to start delivering Diplomas will have to apply through the Gateway process.

The Secretary of State has outlined his priorities for this academic year in letters to all headteachers. Three letters have been sent; one to primary, secondary and special schools. Each copy is available to read on TeacherNet.

TeacherNet logoThe Gender Agenda Seminars

As part of a focus on gender in schools and settings, the DCSF is running a series of regional seminars specifically for the research community. Each seminar will last for about four hours and will include contributions from researchers, including from DCSF and teachers, on new and current research on gender issues plus discussion groups and feedback.

The teachers' pay calculator has been upgraded to include 1 September 2008 pay changes. This tool is quick and easy to use, and replaces earlier software only available on disk or by downloading from the DCSF website.

Threshold guidance and model application forms suitable for use in Round 9 (2008/09) for England and Wales are now available. The guidance and application forms are only available on TeacherNet as the DCSF no longer publishes hard-copy versions.
